Official: Spring 101.0 Released

Hello springers, your favourite engine is here, and it’s better than ever!

Spring 101.0 brings us numerous features, fixes and performance improvements introduced in over 1200 commits since 100.0.

Most of the new features are described in this video created by gajop (thanks!).

We can also describe changes in words:

Lua Feature & Map shaders
It is now possible to set custom shaders for features and map drawing from lua.

Line of Sight refactor
Line of sight calculation performance was greatly improved allowing it to be smoothly updated every simulation frame.

Transports refactor
The hard-coded transport behaviour was tweaked to allow the attachment of any unit to any other unit from lua.

Internal pr-downloader support
An essential step towards in-game lobby, it already allows rapid tags to be used in game dependencies and in start scripts.

Please test Spring 101.0 as it will be set as default version on lobby server in a week or so (exact time TBD) if no blocking bugs are found.

XTA: Introducing new awards

  1. ‘Fortress city’: First to build 200 dragon’s teeth or fortification walls
  2. ‘2x Lost commander’: First player to lose his commander twice
  3. ‘T1-swarmer’:Being only player to not build any T2-units during the whole game
  4. ‘Hitman’: First player to kill three (3) enemy commanders
  5. ‘Cygnus Nero’: The black swan symbolises something exotic and extra-ordinary. This award goes to the first player to D-Gun one (1) ‘Holy commander target’ or five (5) Impressive commander targets’.

EvoRTS: Evolution RTS Get-Togethers are back! 

Evolution RTS Get-Togethers are back! 

This time with some fairly significant changes that have happened in the background. Most notably, the LRPC no longer exists. It has been replaced with a  stockpile-able cruise missile launcher!

Additionally, nuclear missiles now do lots of damage to an area, but do not deal catastrophic damage in a single blow. They are also much cheaper to build (as are their counters).

As per the usual, we will be meeting in the torture chamber room in the spring mumble server at gametime and the even will be livestreamed via twitch! Hope to see you there!

20 Get-Togethers??? Already? Awesome! Lets do this again!

List of changes this week are mostly internal, but they include:
• New Air Engineer model
• Make bomber AI not target units over buildings
• Make the Survival AI Queen stupidly unfair
• Remove the WHEEEEEE factor from all terrains climbing up cliff faces
• More???

EvolutionRTS: Just fixed a fairly serious site bug.

Just fixed a fairly serious site bug.

So apparently chrome for android has an issue with google web fonts imported via stylesheet (that appears intermittently). This issue reeks of irony, but I have fixed it now. I apologize to anyone who went to the site on chrome for android and got no text, I was not aware of this bug until very recently.
